Barco has contributed to China’s latest space shot by providing large screen projection for the command and control of the country’s first space-walk. Shenzhou VII, China’s third manned spacecraft, successfully lifted off on Thursday 25th September at 0910 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in Gansu province.
The Shenzhou spacecraft orbited the earth for 68 hours over a three-day period, before the crew returned to earth safely.
During the orbit, astronaut Zhai Zhigang completed a successful space walk, becoming the first man in his country’s history to do so. Throughout the mission, Barco SLM R12+ projectors were used to provide command and control visualisation both at the launch centre and the Beijing Aerospace Control centre.
