Asus and Philips grow LCD sales despite shrinking European market
Asus and Philips are forging ahead with bumper LCD sales against a backdrop of a declining European market, according to market research firm Context.

Context’s Western European Distribution Panel for the first quarter of 2012 show that Asus and Philips are among the few vendors to have shown strong gains in the LCD Displays market. Asus increased its revenues by +50% year on year and Philips by +30%.

Increases were strongest in Italy with both vendors increasing their market shares in the region. Overall the Italien LCD display market contracted by –10% year on year.

Overall, revenues in the LCD Displays market for Western Europe Distribution fell by -13% year on year. Poor sales in Germany, the region’s largest economy, were the foremost factor in this decline.

The research was not broken down into display size.
