The Grainger Sky theatre, which forms part of the planetarium’s Deep Space Adventure, will boast the world’s largest single seamless digital image when it opens in July 2011. The system features a resolution of 8k x 8k in a 180 degree dome projection installed by Global Immersion, the planetarium’s technology partner. 20 edge-blended Rockwell-Collins Zorro projectors create the display, which each include onboard colour, luminance and camera-based blending calibration.
