The more things change, the more they stay the same. This old adage can certainly be applied to the room control sector. As technology becomes a vital part of our home and work lives, the need to control these devices becomes paramount. But how do we do that? For the last decade it has been done in the pro-AV world via the use of touchpanels. Either fixed into a wall, or free-standing, the devices were, in the main, built by either AMX or Crestron, the two American behemoths of the control world.
So what has changed in the control world to take us away from touchpanels?
