Setting the Agenda: Klas Dalbjorn, TC Group

Choosing the right product to bring to market is never easy says TC Group’s Klas Dalbjorn. Especially when the market demands power capacity is doubled every few years. Paul Milligan spoke to Dalbjorn to find out how the company develops new products.

In what is a familiar tale in the pro audio industry, Klas Dalbjorn has worked for one company his whole working life. After completing an MSC in electrical engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg he joined TC Group in 1992.

He began at Lab.gruppen in product development looking at DSP and speaker processors, and for the last decade has been in product management, based out of Lab.gruppen’s headquarters in Kungsbacka, Sweden. He is now the product research manager for TC Group (which includes pro audio brands such as Tannoy, Lake, and Lab.gruppen) and looks after the touring and installation products across the brands.

Talking about the nature of his role, he says he is ‘the one that spends the most time in the company on the roadmap and looking forward to steer what the different development teams are doing’. Unusually for such a pro-audio brand, but significantly as a pointer for the company’s future, Dalbjorn’s focus he says is on the ‘electronics side of things, rather than the speaker side of things’.
