Netgear has moved to bolster its enterprise offering with the acquisition of cybersecurity specialist Exium, aiming to deliver a fully integrated networking and security platform tailored for SMEs and managed service providers (MSPs).
Announced on June 5, the deal sees Netgear absorb Exium’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) capabilities into its business portfolio. The integration will focus on embedding Exium’s cloud-native cybersecurity tools into Netgear’s Insight cloud management platform, creating what the company claims will be the first fully integrated wired, wireless, and secure networking solution designed specifically for SMEs and MSPs.
The move comes as SME demand for enterprise-grade networking and security solutions continues to rise. According to Gartner, the SASE market is forecast to grow at 29% CAGR, reaching $25 billion by 2027.
Pramod Badjate, president and GM of Netgear for Business, highlighted the challenge faced by SMEs in securing their networks with limited IT resources: “AI has changed the threat landscape […] but the solutions for SMEs are often too difficult to implement or need to be cobbled onto the network and managed separately.” The company aims to simplify this process with a “single-pane-of-glass” platform.
Exium CEO Farooq Khan will join the Netgear leadership team, continuing to lead the SASE solution. He said the two companies share a vision of delivering robust security tailored to SME needs.
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of Q2 2025.
