Making headlines: Tiroler Tageszeitung newsroom

When publishing house Moser Holding moved into a new home in Innsbruck, Austria it took the opportunity to deliver staff on the Tiroler Tageszeitung (Tiroler Daily News) an advanced, high-tech news room.

A growing 24 hour news culture which prizes breaking news means reporters on daily or even weekly titles must stay up to date with events that can change in the space of minutes. With this in mind Moser Holding, a leading Austrian publishing house, has delivered hardware and switching equipment to allow its journalists to access, choose and display a huge variety of sources on a number of different screens including a large videowall.

The publisher recently relocated its operations to a new, striking premises named the Headline, a building that has already made its mark on the Innsbruck skyline. The move gave it the opportunity to create a 5,500m² newsroom for the 95 print and online editors, editorial technicians and secretaries working that work on the Tiroler Tageszeitung.

The third floor open-plan office houses a central oval newsroom constructed around an editorial ‘command centre’. A key demand for the newsroom staff was to access a steady stream of managed information. Each one of the editorial and administrative departments has to dissect the latest news and global developments as they happen.

A wide range of sources including international broadcast news, sports channels and teletext messages are relayed and displayed onto screens and monitors installed throughout the facility. The news room had to simply and reliably control and distribute content to a wide range of multimedia devices that include monitors, connector panels and a videowall.

Moser Holding turned to Innsbruck based AV integrator rogllivtec.

Rogllivtec answered the publisher’s needs with a system based on AMX Enova DGX switchers and accessed by Modero touchpanels. The integrator also worked with Moser Holding’s IT staff to integrate the system into onsite IT infrastructure.
