Alcons triumphant after shootout

Nationaltheater in Mannheim has opted for Alcons Audio following a shootout between six brands. The system installed in the 1,156 seat Vier-Sparten-Theatre opera house is predominantly used for orchestra and ballet performances but also houses rock and roll concerts.

The resulting system is claimed to offer natural sound response with very little compression. It replaces a solution that did not have a sufficient coverage on and below the balconies.

Twelve LR14 and six LR7 units were installed, with two BF302 double 15“ subwoofers, as well as two VR8 compact monitors. The system is powered and controlled by four ALC2 amplified loudspeaker controllers and one ALC4 amplified loudspeaker controller. With a centre cluster the previously problematic positions under and on the balconies are sufficiently covered.
