Zoom launches AI Companion 2.0

Zoom has released its updated AI Companion 2.0, including new capabilities to expand context, synthesise information, and take actions.

AI Companion 2.0 is available as a side panel within Zoom Workplace, providing users with a personal assistant that adds additional context to what users are seeing in the Workplace app, remembering prior interactions and providing suggestions that are relevant to user work.

The updated companion uses information from across Zoom workplace, including Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, Zoom Mail, and mail providers and services such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, Gmail, and more.

AI Companion 2.0 uses information from the web via Perplexity to provide summaries and answers to specific questions, and will be compatible with Zoom Tasks when launched in late 2024.

For meetings, users can ask AI Companion 2.0 questions to provide additional information on topics being discussed, such as “What does this acronym mean?” or “What is this discussion about?”

AI companion can also be used to capture feedback and discussion points in case a user steps away from a meeting, providing discussion points to catch up on or explanations of what was missed if their name was mentioned by asking “Was my name mentioned in this meeting?”  or “Were action items assigned to me during the meeting?”
