News has emerged that Samsung is working on what it is calling a 'flying display device'. A patent was filed by Samsung in early 2016 with the US Patents Office, and has hit the news as it was approved last week (Feb 13). The original patent being filed in Korea in April 2015.
The images in the patent resemble a drone with an integrated display and four propellers.
The flying device is able to detect various types of user information, including the position, but also the face and pupil (eye) of the user. In addition, gestures can be recognised.
One usage of the device online commentators have been hinting at is as a hovering advertisement display.
The display device is capable of changing an angle, based on a gaze of a user while moving along by automatically tracking the user, without an additional operation performed by the user.
Samsung´s flying display device will also include a voice recognition system and a vibration system. In addition, the device comes with an integrated gyro sensor, a motion sensor, an accelerometer sensor and an obstacle detection unit.
