Cisco ramps up video focus with NDS acquisition
Cisco is bolstering its video services offering with the acquisition of NDS Group, a provider of video software and content security solutions to subscribers.
The networks and communications giant will shell out $5 billion for a company that it hopes will help it push into emerging markets such as China and India.
It says the acquisition should complement and accelerate delivery of Videoscape, its digital video entertainment platform.
Cisco also claims the acquisition, which is due to complete in the second half of 2012, reflects its increased strategic focus on video.
