BS Broadcast pushes used equipment in the Middle East
BS Broadcast has set up in the UAE to provide used broadcast and AV kit to organisations lacking the budget to invest in new equipment.
The company, backed by system integrator Broadcast Systems Arabia, will target TV and radio stations, production houses, rental and events companies, educational institutions and media training centres.
It has an inventory of more than 650 products from 69 manufacturers including Axon, Genelec, Harmonic, Sony, Shure and Yamaha. Products tested by BS Broadcast’s in-house engineers provided with a 90 day warranty.
Irfan Gondal, CEO at BS Broadcast, said, “While the Middle East and Europe enjoy rapid technology refresh cycles, organisations in regions such as Asia and Africa don't always have the financial capacity to purchase the latest equipment. Buying and selling of used broadcast and audio visual equipment is a well-established practice in the USA and UK but is a completely untapped market in the Middle East. We are stepping in to address this gap and are ready to meet the needs of smaller customers who still require quality solutions.
“Often manufacturers stop supporting their older models which makes spare parts for otherwise good equipment hard to come by. This is something that we address by having such a comprehensive inventory. Furthermore, not all electronic equipment is easily recyclable. So, by refurbishing and extending the life of old equipment we are doing our bit for the environment.”
