As AVIXA remains poised to release its 2019 Global Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA), Inavate offers a glimpse of some of the surprises and highlights you can expect to see.
Forecasts remain robust. The pro-AV industry amounted to $231 billion in 2018 (approximately €203 billion), is expected to rise to $247 billion this year, and forecast to hit a whopping $325 billion in 2025.
According to estimates, 2019 is the year that APAC finally overtakes the Americas in the value of its market. It is expected APAC will account for $90.6 billion against Americas $89 billion. EMEA will account for $66.9 billion according to the report. For 2024 those figures are projected as APAC accounting for $127.6 billion, Americas $112 billion and EMEA $85.1 billion.
Services will play a more central role in this year’s report, with cloud services included as a distinct category for the first time. In a response to where the market is clearly headed, the 2019 IOTA report will reflect shifts in purchasing behaviour (balance between CAPEX and more OPEX) and quantify the services revenue that must be grabbed to shore up declining (or in some cases non-existent) margins on equipment sales.
In terms of technology highlights, it will come as no surprise that direct view LED emerges from the report as a winner (again). Some of the growth in LED in north America will be the result of “pre-shipping” product into the USA in anticipation of US tariffs on Chinese imports.
Perhaps more interestingly, the 2019 report modifies some of the
dire forecasts we’d seen back in 2016 for the future of projection. Still projected (excuse the pun) to lose market share, the display technology’s prospects have been revised up from previous reports.
