A bit of audio history on show at Prolight + Sound
Next year’s Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse will go back in time as it offers visitors the chance to see and hear milestones from four decades of concert PA system development.

The Frankfurt show, held from April 2 to 5, 2019, will stage its first Vintage Concert Audio Show featuring more than 200 exhibits, including PA systems from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. It will continue on April 6 at the Musikmesse Plaza pop-up market.

The show will feature the first WEM, Vox and Marshall portable PA systems, Martin Audio Modular, Meyer MSL3 and Clairbrothers S4, as well as the first line array from L-Acoustics. Many of the vintage systems will be demonstrated and there will be a decade-linked audio panel discussion where sound-engineers from that period explain the equipment used at that time and answer visitors’ questions.

Michael Biwer, group show director of the Entertainment, Media & Creative Industries business unit, said: “The equipment presented at the Vintage Concert Audio Show has had a decisive impact on the sound of whole decades.

“For many people from the sector, these products are no less emotional than musical instruments or recordings. Together with ISDV and VCA, we aim to underscore the significance of PA systems for the international creative sector at our two trade fairs and Musikmesse Plaza.”
