Muting device meets safety requirements

The Mute16 has been developed by GreenHalse electronics to mute 16 channels of audio simultaneously, enabling safety systems to be heard clearly.

Mute16 was designed with public safety legislation in mind, which requires that override facilities exist to allow announcements to be made over a PA system without interference from other sound sources. It can be used in night clubs, theatres or other venues to perform this function.

It makes use of a simple contact signal from the venue's main public address system to control a bank of voltage controlled amplifiers. A ramp generator ensures no audible switching clicks and restores the levels gently over two seconds when the control signal is released.
