Advantech to present universal media-over-IP adapter

Advantech VEGA-3002 PCI Express Interface card side view

Advantech has expanded its IP media offerings with the release of its VEGA-3002 PCI Express Interface card.

The VEGA-3002 universal media-over-IP adapter has been designed to provide more interface options for broadcasters moving to IP workflows. The card supports low latency transmission of uncompressed or lightly compressed video over commercial IP networks (according to industry agreed standards including SMPTE and VSF).

The VEGA-3002 has low power PCI Express format for integration into open server architectures that works to improve application development flexibility and reduce time to market. The card offers 12G-SDI and 3G-SDI connectivity and tri-level synchronisation, as well as built-in dual 10GbE ports to support redundant schemes.

An FPGA allows for future firmware upgrades to the supported standards and different software-selectable configurations to support multiple application and deployment scenarios.

The product has support for SMPTE 2022-6 for transporting uncompressed 3G-SDI video signals over IP with forward error correction according to SMPTE 2022-5 and seamless protection switching according to SMPTE 2022-7, in conjunction with the AIMS Alliance roadmap. An upgraded version supports bidirectional use of mezzanine compression such as TICO, allowing one or more 4K/UHD streams to be carried in a 10 Gigabit Ethernet link.

Advantech will be highlighting its complete line of updated PCI Express cards at booth 11.C22 at IBC 2016. This year’s show takes place from September 9 to 13, 2016 at the RAI in Amsterdam.
