US manufacturer of routing switchers Utah Scientific has announced that it has acquired Norwegian firm Sandar forming new company Utah Sandar.

Whilst Sandar primarily makes small routers from 3x3 to 32x32 in size, Utah’s product line is much further up the size scale, producing routers up to 1152x1152. The resulting combined product line will enable customers to go one-stop-shopping for routing and switching products.

Sandar has in fact just recently announced a new range of compact, cost effective routers that are fully compatible with the systems from Utah Scientific, using the same control systems.

Tom Harmon, president and CEO of Utah Scientific commented: “Both Utah Scientific and Utah Sandar take pride in service and responsiveness, and the combination will enable us to offer readily available, regionally based (Northern European) product support and training to customers all over the world.”

Headquartered in Sandefjord, Norway, Utah Sandar will continue to sell and service its own line of products, as well as the full range of Utah products.
