Sony walks away from IBC
Sony Professional has pulled out of IBC2009 saying it will focus on marketing the company directly to customers. As the company announced it was walking away from the Amsterdam show it took the opportunity to launch a new marketing strategy, the Star Programme. The programme will create a series of more than 250 tutorials, workshops and showcases across the EMEA region.
David Bush, director of marketing at Sony Professional, said, “In the current economic climate, we believe that we should be investing money directly in our customers and taking our message and solutions to them rather relying on them coming to us. The Star programme ensures that we can engage with customers most effectively and provide a level of service and attention which is often not possible at the bigger more traditional events.”
