Global gallery: Worldwide AV applications in pictures
07 June 2012
This month's tour of AV applications takes in venues from Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the USA and Indonesia. Around the world we see sound systems overhauled, ski competitions staged and giant projections lighting up national events.
A Dynacord and Electro-Voice installation at the Audi Dome, home of Bayern Munich’s basketball team, kicks off this edition of global solutions.
The installation, carried out by ELA-Technik Wagner, combines Promatrix and ProSound systems. The Bayern Munich basketball won the German championship in 1954 and 1955 and re-entered the Bundesliga, Germany's top division, in March 2011. In May 2011 the club decided to stage home basketball matches in the Rudi-Sedlmayer Hall, which, after extensive modernisation and rebuilding, was renamed the "Audi Dome" and can house 7,200 spectators.
"In terms of intelligibility and music reproduction, the standards imposed on sound reinforcement systems in the Bundesliga are extremely high," said Karl Wagner, MD of ELA-Technik Wagner.
"For example, we had to guarantee the venue the ability to evacuate 7,200 spectators swiftly and safely in case of an emergency. Additionally, in spite of the inevitably high ambient noise levels that occur during exciting matches, we had to be sure that announcements and commentary would be clearly intelligible at all times, even at the back of the arena. To add a further challenge, we were on a very tight schedule, with only two months to plan, install, and commission the whole installation."
