Gefen releases two DVI extenders

Gefen is targeting professionals working with the ultra high resolutions of dual link DVI or conventional single link DVI with two new extenders.

The GefenPRO DVI FM-1500 and the DVI FM-2000 allow viewing of high resolution computer data on a DVI display when the computer is stored in a rack or control room. Both products use modular sender and receiver units.

DVI FM-1500 is suitable for professional computer users. It extends high resolution DVI (1920x1200) up to 1 kilometre using single-mode fiber optic cabling terminated in SC connectors. Up to 500 meters (1640 feet) can be reached using multi-mode fibre. This streamlines the installation and eliminates EMI (electromagnetic interference). Two small transceivers are connected at the local and remote locations, linked by a single strand of fibre optic cable. Virtual EDID programming constantly synchs the video source to the monitor used in the system.

DVI FM-2000 allows dual link DVI resolutions up to 3840x2400 to be delivered from the high resolution graphics computer to the remote display using two multi-mode fibre optic cables terminated with SC connectors, reaching up to 300 meters (1000 feet) in distance. The use of two dual link fiber optic cables provides integrity of delivery without signal quality loss.
