Saville’s Digital Vision for York

Author : Saville Audio Visual

04 September 2011

Saville Audio Visual installed a complete digital information system in the Visit York visitor centre, displaying tourist attractions and services on a network of LCD screens.

Content is created in-house and routed via a Cayin server, enabling different screens to show video, text tickers and banners and live RSS feeds. Saville also provided LED information signage plus a touchscreen kiosk linked to the internal web site, enabling visitors to access information about regional activities or attractions without assistance.

One giant 65" screen features an ‘Active Map’ of Yorkshire attractions, with an exclusive zoom-out feature written and programmed by Saville. Technical sales manager Steve Gore-Browne commented: "We’re very proud of this project, the first of its type in the UK to provide visitors with a truly immersive experience."
