AV Stumpfl takes Wings to 4.20
19 July 2010
AV Stumpfl has released an update to its multimedia software, Wings Platinum. Version 4.20 offers extra formatting options and effects.
The new text function allows creation of titles, which would otherwise require many mouse-clicks in external programs. Virtually all fonts installed on the computer can be used at good display quality in any size. Text formatting is object-oriented, i.e. the text objects can simply be dropped into a picture track. Separate text tracks are no longer necessary. Since the fonts can be saved in the EXE presentation the show can be run on other computers.
Text effects allow the text to be provided with a 3D-contour and with transparent, soft and hard shadows. In addition to this, different colours and effects can be applied both to font fill and the optional border. About twenty presets are supplied and users can also modify these preset effects and adjust them to their own requirements or even create new presets. Text effects can also be combined with other effects Wings Platinum has in store for images and videos.
The video properties now allow selection of colour standards BT601 (SD video) and BT.709 (HD video), which may come in useful in case of problems. A few new triggers have been added, e.g. for volume adjustment.
AV Stumpfl claims a number of minor bugs have been eliminated and all new features and improvements are described in the help system. For Wings Platinum 4 users the update is free of charge and available for download on the company’s website.
