LG to triple OLED manufacturing capability

LG Display will invest $225.7 million in OLED manufacturing facilities and triple its OLED production capabilities, according to a report from Reuters.
The news wire reported that the Korean electronics giant is currently building a new OLED line for production in the third quarter and the new investment will triple production capacity of the line from the second half of next year.
LG Display also reported its first quarter results last week. Its CEO, Young Soo Kwon said: “Timely production based on accurate market prediction and customer-oriented marketing activities have reinforced our customer base. That, combined with a favourable LCD market, led to our sound performance. We will step up development efforts in new areas such as AMOLED and flexible display to expand our business portfolio and ensure sustained growth over the long run.”
